SWAT Mobility Japan has officially launched its AI-driven on-demand transportation app, "AI Shared On-Demand Transportation Noranke+," in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan starting August 1, 2024.
Following the Noto Peninsula earthquake in early January 2024, Wajima City has been working to restore its roads and improve accessibility. Due to the ongoing construction, road conditions frequently change, making travel routes unpredictable. To address these challenges and support the mobility of residents in temporary housing, Wajima City has introduced a shared ride service utilising SWAT’s proprietary dynamic routing algorithm. This algorithm allows for quick adjustments to routes, adding or modifying stops within days based on the latest road repair progress.
Residents can easily identify stop locations and book their rides through a user-friendly mobile app. The service optimises carpooling efficiency by fine-tuning over 200 customisable parameters and continuously analysing mobility data, such as usage patterns and travel times, to ensure high-quality service. These parameters are also tailored to meet the passenger needs and operational requirements. This initiative aims to encourage residents to travel more frequently and stay connected with the community despite the ongoing reconstruction efforts.
